Something I think about Van Gogh's Starry Night
Like most of the people, I like Van Gogh's paintings very much. Especially the dark background ones, such as Cafe Terrace on the Place du Forum, Starry Night Over The Rhone, Vase with Poppies, Cornflowers, Peonies and Chrysanthemums, Wheat Field Under Clouded Sky,...

What I like the most is Starry Night. The sky on this painting is so different from what we can see at night. Why can he see such brilliant sky? I guess one reason is the time he lived and painted, people hadn't have electric lamps in usual life.Their houses and rooms were very dark at night. The streets were dark, everywhere was dark. Only the sky was bright. So people at that time were more sensitive about the light than modern people. So I guess at that time, people didn't feel so amazing by the nights that Van Gogh painted, they saw the same sight! Maybe it's one of the reasons why Van Gogh could not sell his paintings when he was alive.
